Before we went to Chicago, I heard about the magic food that was the Cuban sandwich, the “cubano”. I had been to Florida many many times before, and stupidly never went to a place where they served them. Then came the movie Chef! where Jon Favreau cruises through the USA with a foodtruck, selling “cubanos” all along the way. I was hooked. On the movie and on the fact that I just had to try one for myself.
When you say “Tenerife”, everybody immediately thinks of the south side of the volcanic island. I recently spent a few nights in Tenerife, hired a rental car and went up to the lesser know north side. First up, it rains more in Tenerife Norte, do take that into account, maybe bring a rain coat in your car, just in case. Drive to the town of Santa Cruz, park your car and wander around town. And stop by the wine and tapas bar El Gusto por el Vino.
I’ve recently developed a craving for sushi. Yes, I know, instead of being an early adopter, I’m a late one. Maybe because I’m allergic to hyped up things. Anyways, I’ve discovered a really great place in my hometown Ghent, Sushi Paradise. None of my sushi loving friends living in Ghent had ever heard of it, but once they’ve been there, they are hooked.
I was actually surprised that I hadn’t written a blog post yet about my absolute favorite restaurant on the island (Ibiza): La Paloma. I’ve received this tip via the great Sergio Herman in a magazine and I thought, if the chef of the best restaurant (at the time) in the world loves this one, I’ve got to go!
And I’ve been going there ever since 😉 Take a seat, and enjoy the ambience:
I’m always looking for quaint little places, just off the beaten track, to go to with the husband or with friends. Salade Folle in Bruges is one of these little places where you can go for a quick meal or if you feel don’t like eating in.
May 2016. Incredible, but true, “the season” as the islanders call it, hadn’t even started yet, but Ibiza was starting to fill up nicely already. In other words: book ahead. Book your hotel, your flight, your rental car, but most importantly: book your restaurants in advance. Even for lunch.
I’ve already written a post about the beautiful Amante Beach Club. For me, it’s one of the best places to be on the island. Perched atop a cliff, overlooking a beautiful pebbled cove, Amante boasts of amazing views. It’s also where one goes for lovely cocktails (always try the cocktail of the day) and superb food.
